Do You Have Unfulfilled Dreams?

Do You Have Unfulfilled Dreams?

Do you think your dreams or goals are out of reach because of the situation or circumstances you find yourself in?

Or have you believed the lies that you are not qualified, gifted, talented, rich, or knowledgeable enough to do it?

Dreams are God’s way of getting us to think bigger than ourselves.

Acts 2: 16-18 “But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;

17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:” (NKJ)

The Apostle Peter did quote this Scripture from the Prophet Joel; however, we need to read what Joel said right before this.

Joel 2:25 “And I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the crawling locust, and the consuming locust, and the cutting locust, my great army which I sent among you.” (NKJ)

Isaiah 42:22-23 “But this is a people robbed and spoiled; they are all of them snared in holes, and they are hid in prison houses: they are for a prey, and none delivers; for a spoil, and none said, ‘Restore!’

23 Who among you will give ear to this? Who will listen and hear for the time to come?” (NKJ)

Age is not meant to be a barrier to dreams. Dreams are blocked by fear and apprehension; indecision and procrastination. Excuses for our lack of faith is evident by the choices we make.

Dreams are illustrations…from the book your soul is writing about you.  (Marsha Norman)

You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream. (C.S. Lewis)

  • Oscar Hammerstein II was sixty-four when he wrote the lyrics for The Sound of Music.
  • Winston Churchill was sixty-five when he became Britain’s prime minister.
  • Nelson Mandela was seventy-one when he was released from a South African prison and seventy-five when he was elected president.
  • Michelangelo was seventy-two when he designed the dome of St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome.
  • Frank Lloyd Wright was ninety-one when he completed his work at the Guggenheim Museum.
  • Dimitrion Yordanidis was ninety-eight years old when he ran a marathon in seven hours and thirty-three minutes, in Athens, Greece.
  • Ichijirou Araya was one hundred when he climbed Mount Fuji.
  • Abraham was 100 and Sarah was 90 when Isaac was born.
  • Hannah was over 70 when she gave birth to the Prophet Samuel.
  • Zechariah was 99 and Elizabeth was 88 when she gave birth to John the Baptist.

The rest of your life is ahead of you. You can’t go back and change anything about your past, but you can change your future. Now is your time to take action!

Ask yourself:

  • What dreams have I been putting off that I know I need to pursue?
  • What attitudes, people, or things are holding me back?

Remember these words from English novelist George Eliot: “It is never too late to be who you might have been.”

Jeremiah 29:11-12 “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, said the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

12 Then shall you call on me, and you shall go and pray to me, and I will listen to you.” (NKJ)

Mark 9:23 “Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” (NKJ)
