Resurrection Life
Today is “Easter Sunday,” a better term is Resurrection Day; the day our Lord rose from the dead. We all know Jesus died for our sins, but most believers don’t live in the resurrection life. Today, we’re going to delve into what Jesus accomplished on the cross so that we get in the state of mind to live the resurrection life. We should remember what Jesus accomplished for us, so that we constantly remind ourselves we have been translated out of the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of God’s Son. We are to live in victory
Scriptures:
Passover/Feast of Unleavened Bread begins on Good Friday. The Passover occurs the first day, but Unleavened Bread continues for 7 days straight, but they both start and are celebrated in conjunction with one another.
Reading from Exodus chp. 11 and 12
1 Corinthians 5:7: 7 Get rid of the old yeast, that you may be a new unleavened batch, as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. Berean
Isaiah 53: 1-5: Who has believed [confidently trusted in, relied on, and adhered to] our message [of salvation]? And to whom [if not us] has the arm and infinite power of the Lord been revealed? 2 For He [the Servant of God] grew up before Him like a tender shoot (plant), And like a root out of dry ground; He has no stately form or majestic splendor That we would look at Him, Nor [handsome] appearance that we would be attracted to Him. 3 He was despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and pain and acquainted with grief; And like One from whom men hide their faces He was despised, and we did not appreciate His worth or esteem Him. 4 But [in fact] He has borne our griefs, And He has carried our sorrows and pains; Yet we [ignorantly] assumed that He was stricken, Struck down by God and degraded and humiliated [by Him]. 5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was crushed for our wickedness [our sin, our injustice, our wrongdoing]; The punishment [required] for our well-being fell on Him, And by His stripes (wounds) we are healed. The day after Passover/Unleavened Bread begins the Feast of Firstfruits. The day before Easter begins The Feast of Firstfruits at sunset. Firstfruits represents the first of the Jewish harvest. The Jews brought their firstfruits and offered them before the Lord. Spring is a time of new life when everything blooms and comes alive again. Everything in nature displays God’s plan of redemption. Jesus came back to life. He gave us eternal life, and now we live the Resurrection life; a life filled with abundance, healing and wholeness.
2 Corinthians 5: 17: Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. KJ
Romans 6:4: Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. KJ
1 Corinthians 15: 20-23: 20 But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. 21 For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. 22 For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. 23 But each in his own turn: Christ the firstfruits; then at His coming, those who belong to Him. John 19:28, 30: 28 After this, Jesus, knowing that all things had already been accomplished … received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And He bowed His head and gave up His spirit. NAS
Galatians 3: 13, 14: Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”), 14 that the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. NKJ
Romans 3: 20-26: 21 But now God has shown us a way to be made right with Him without keeping the requirements of the law, as was promised in the writings of Moses and the prophets long ago. 22 We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are. 23 For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. 24 Yet God, with undeserved kindness, declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when He freed us from the penalty for our sins. 25 For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood. This sacrifice shows that God was being fair when he held back and did not punish those who sinned in times past, 26 for He was looking ahead and including them in what he would do in this present time. God did this to demonstrate his righteousness, for He Himself is fair and just, and He declares sinners to be right in his sight when they believe in Jesus. NLT
1 Peter 2: 24: and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed. NAS
Believers must live as righteous, taking every blessing from Abraham for yourself every single day of your life.
*Note: When we speak of drinking Jesus’ blood, we mean wine, or preferred juice. It is not really Jesus’ blood, it only represents it. He shed His blood once for the sins of all mankind.
When you think of Jesus, do you see Him on the cross? Or do you focus on what He did for you so you can live in the resurrection life TODAY.
