The Authority of God’s Word

We must remove all ambiguity concerning God’s Word. To question the Word of God is to question your own salvation.

1 Peter 1:23Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which lives and abides forever.” (NKJ)

If you are unable to see the Word working in your life (prayers not answered, lack of peace, recurring patterns of defeat, troubling thoughts, etc.), it is because you have unbelief, doubt, or a lack of faith.

Hebrews 4:2 “For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.” (KJV)

The ‘Parable of the Sower’ is about the condition of man’s heart.

Luke 8:11-15 “Now the parable is this: The seed is the Word of God12 Those by the wayside are the ones who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. 13 But the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who believe for a while and in time of temptation fall away. 14 Now the ones that fell among thorns are those who, when they have heard, go out and are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity. 15 But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience.” (NKJ)

James 1:19-25 “You must understand this. Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. 20 For human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires. 21 Therefore, rid yourselves of everything impure and every expression of wickedness, and with a gentle spirit accept the word planted in you that can save your souls. 22 Keep on being obedient to the word, and not merely being hearers who deceive themselves. 23 For if anyone hears the word but is not obedient to it, he is like a man who looks at himself in a mirror 24 and studies himself carefully, and then goes off and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25 But the one who looks at the perfect law of freedom and remains committed to it—thereby demonstrating that he is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of what that law requires—will be blessed in what he does.” (ISV)

Romans 2:13 “For merely listening to the law doesn’t make us right with God. It is obeying the law that makes us right in his sight.” (NKJ)

Our only weapon against the devil is the Word of God.

Ephesians 6:10-11,16-17 “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. (NKJ)

16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, with which you shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:”

Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believes.” (KJV)

1 Corinthians 1:18; 23-24 “For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us who are saved it is the power of God. 23 We preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumbling block, and unto the Greeks foolishness; 24 But unto them who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.” (NKJ)

Mark 12:24 “And Jesus answering said unto them, Do you not therefore err, because you know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?” (KJV)

1 Timothy 4:1-6 “Now the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons, 2 by means of the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience as with a branding iron, 3 who forbid marriage and advocate abstaining from foods which God has created to be gratefully shared in by those who believe and know the truth. 4 For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with gratitude; 5 for it is sanctified by means of the Word of God and prayer. 6 In pointing out these things to the brethren, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, constantly nourished on the words of the faith and of the sound doctrine which you have been following.” (NAS)

When someone says ‘That’s your interpretation,’ what they’re really telling you is they have not studied the Scripture for themselves.

2 Timothy 3:16 “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,” (NKJ)
