Wielding Your Sword

There is no doubt we are in a battle. How we use our weapon will determine the outcome. Our tongue is our sword.

Isaiah 49:2 And He has made My mouth like a sharp sword; In the shadow of His hand, He has hidden Me, …

It is Satan’s plan to get us to turn our swords on each other.

Psalm 55:21-22 The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart; his words were softer than oil, yet they were drawn swords. 22 Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.

Satan also wants us to use our tongues against ourselves.

Proverbs 18:20-21 A man’s stomach shall be satisfied from the fruit of his mouth; from the produce of his lips, he shall be filled. 21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.

Good News Translation You will have to live with the consequences of everything you say. 21 What you say can preserve life or destroy it; so, you must accept the consequences of your words.

The ONLY way to keep from destroying our own lives is by making our words His Words. It is our choice to speak death or to speak life. God has given us His written Word that it may be spoken.

Isaiah 59:21 “As for Me,” says the Lord, “this is My covenant with them: My Spirit who is upon you, and My words which I have put in your mouth, shall not depart from your mouth, nor from the mouth of your descendants, nor from the mouth of your descendants’ descendants,” says the Lord, “from this time and forevermore.”

The ONLY way to overcome the devil is by speaking God’s Word into our lives.

Revelation 12:10-11 Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God, day and night, has been cast down. 11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.

Our own words testify as to what we believe.

Psalm 103:2-5 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: 3 Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, 4 Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, 5 Who satisfies your mouth with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

When we speak God’s Word into our situation, we introduce the power of God into that problem.

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart

Yes, what you think is important. However, we must speak those thought out in order to activate them.

Ephesians 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

Isaiah 55:11 God said, “So shall My Word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”

The Creator of all things spoke what He wanted to happen. We were created in His image and should act like He acted.

Ephesians 5:1 Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. (imitate = Greek = mimic; follow the example of)

God has given us His Word, His Spirit, and His angels to help us.

John 14:26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

Hebrews 1:14 Are they (the angles) not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?

Angels need to hear God’s Word in order to assist us.

Psalm 103:20-21 Bless the Lord, you His angels,
who excel in strength, who do His word, heeding the voice of His word. 21 Bless the Lord, all you His hosts,
you ministers of His, who do His pleasure.

Make His Word your voice. Speak it out for all to hear.

2 Corinthians 4:13 And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I believed and therefore I spoke,” we also believe and therefore speak

What comes out of our mouths is what we truly believe.

Matthew 12:33-37 Jesus said, ““Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by its fruit. 34 Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks35 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. 36 But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment37 For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”

Choose to believe God’s Word over every circumstance that comes your way and speak that Word out. Your success is guaranteed. The Word cannot fail!
