The Body is the Temple – Part 4
Today we will further divide our soul from our spirit. We will see the various roles of our soul, and we will also see what the heart is. Is the heart separate from the spirit and soul? No.
1 Corinthians 3:16: Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? NAS
1 Thessalonians 5:23: May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. NIV
John 3:6: That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the (Holy) Spirit is (the human) spirit. KJ emphasis added
John 3:6: Flesh is born of flesh, but (the human) spirit is born of the (Holy) Spirit. Berean emphasis added
Ephesians 4:6: one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all. NAS
2 Corinthians 13:5: Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you— unless indeed you fail the test? NAS
2 Timothy 4:22: The Lord Jesus Christ be with thy spirit. Grace be with you. Amen. KJ
John 16: 1-7; 13-15: 7 But I tell you the truth, it is for your benefit that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you. 13 However, when the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all truth. For He will not speak on His own, but He will speak what He hears, and He will declare to you what is to come. 14 He will glorify Me by taking from what is Mine and disclosing it to you. 15 Everything that belongs to the Father is Mine. That is why I said that the Spirit will take from what is Mine and disclose it to you. Berean
Hebrews 4:9-12: 9 So there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God. 10 For the one who has entered His rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did from His. 11 Therefore let us be diligent to enter that rest, so that no one will fall, through following the same example of disobedience. 12 For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. NAS
We will now find Scriptures proving the role of the soul from the spirit. We will define the parts of our human spirit in the next lesson.
Mind:

and your hope will never be cut off. Berean

The heart is often mentioned in the Bible. The heart is part of both the soul and spirit. It is not a separate part of the body, but a composition of both. The heart comprises the mind, will, emotions and conscience, which is part of the spirit.
