Head Knowledge vs Heart Knowledge

It’s one thing to know something in your head; to mentally acknowledge something is true. But it is a totally different thing to know something in your heart; to know something is true for you. Because having the truth down in your heart liberates you from fear.

John 8:31-32 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (NKJ)

You cannot know the truth outside of God’s Word. You cannot know the truth independent of Jesus.

John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. (NKJ)

Only the truth you know and act upon will set you free. It takes more than mentally agreeing with something. You don’t truly believe something until you act on what you believe.
There is a vast difference between something that is true and something that is THE truth. (Example of my location) Something can be true at the moment (circumstances, problems, pressures of life) but they are subject to change.

Hebrew 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. (NKJ)

The truth is always constant, unchanging, and dependable – like gravity. Gravity was true before you came on this earth and will be after you leave this earth. (Example of Peter)

John 17:17 Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth. (NKJ) (Sanctify = set apart; different)

All Scripture is truth. Not just the parts you apply. But, if you don’t apply it in faith, then that word is not true for you.

Romans 1:24-25 Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, 25 who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. (NKJ)

The Word must be believed in our heart and spoken from our mouths in faith.

Romans 10:8-13 But what does it say? (Deuteronomy 30:14) “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. 13 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (NKJ) (Saved =so’-zo
where we get “SOS” from. Definition: to save, to rescue, to deliver, to heal, to preserve.)

Romans 15:4-6 For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope. 5 Now may the God of patience and comfort grant you to be like-minded toward one another, according to Christ Jesus, 6 that you may with one mind and one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. (NKJ)

2 Peter 1:19-21 And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts20 knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, 21 for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. (NKJ)

Our “stinkin thinkin” is what gets us into trouble in the first place. The Word must get past our head because our head is focusing on the problem or on what hurts. That is why we must meditate on the Word of God until it is locked in our heart.

Palm 119:11 Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You. (NKJ)

Romans 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. (NKJ)

We can know His thoughts by knowing His Word. His Word is His will.

Isaiah 55:8-11 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts. 10 For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and do not return there, but water the earth, and make
it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower
and bread to the eater, 11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” (NKJ)

Speak His Word in faith and receive what He has provided.
