The Purpose of Calvary

What was the reason Jesus came down to earth as a man and went to the cross? There was a divine purpose for Jesus’ entry into the kingdom of men. Find out here.

Ephesians 1:20-2:10 … He (God) worked in Christ when He (God) raised Him (Jesus) from the dead and seated Him (Jesus) at His right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all principality and power and  might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.
22 And He (God) put all things under His (Jesus’) feet, and gave Him (Jesus) to be head over all things to the church,  23 which is His (Jesus’) body, the fullness of Him (God) who fills all in all. 1 And you He (Jesus) made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, 2 in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, 3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His (God’s) kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. 10 For we are His (God’s) workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. (NKJ)

Do you dare to believe God? What if, the Word of God were true? Has He really made us sit together with Christ? What would that look like?

Luke 10:19 Jesus said, “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” (NKJ)

You may be thinking, “Yeah, but Jesus said that to the Disciples. Not to us.”

Luke 10:17-18 Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.” 18 And He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.” (NKJ)

Perhaps you’ve been taught that was done away with when the Disciples died. If you believe that, then you also must believe the same thing is true about the Great Commission.

Matthew 28:18-20 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. (NKJ)
Why are we so quick to believe that Scripture in Matthew, and yet want to throw out other Scriptures?

Mark 16:15-18 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will follow those who believeIn My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” (NKJ)

Why do we struggle to believe these Scriptures even when they were prophesized over 1040 years before Jesus said them?

Psalm 91:10-13 No evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; 11 For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways. 12 In their hands they shall bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone. 13 You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, the young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot. (NKJ)

The reason most of us struggle to believe the whole truth is because we allow our past experiences to dictate our current position.

Mark 9:23 Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” (NKJ)

Dare to trust His Word. If you can trust Him for salvation, you already have enough faith to trust Him for everything else. Believe and receive or doubt and do without. Dare to believe. His Word CANNOT fail ever!
