What is NOT in Heaven

Many of us have heard or read stories about people who have seen Heaven and we all conjure up ideas of what we think Heaven is like.

1 Corinthians 2:9-10 But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. (NKJ)

It is hard to imagine streets of gold, walls of jasper and precious stones, and a crystal sea. (Rev. 21:19-21; 4:6)

Our focus in this message is Jesus’ teaching on how to pray.

Matthew 6:9-10 In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. 10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. (NKJ)

How can we pray for His will to be done here on earth if we don’t know how it is in Heaven? Let’s look at just a few things that are NOT in heaven.

There is no sin nor sickness in Heaven.

Isaiah 33:24 And no resident of Zion will say, “I am sick.” The people who dwell there will be forgiven of iniquity. (Berean)

Matthew 4:23-24 Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people. 24 News about Him spread all over Syria, and people brought to Him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering acute pain, the demon-possessed, those having seizures, and the paralyzed—and He healed them. (Berean)

 There is no crying, death, sorrow, or pain in Heaven

Revelation 21:4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away. (Berean)

Isaiah 25:8 He will swallow up death forever, and the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces; the rebuke of His people He will take away from all the earth; for the Lord has spoken. (NKJ)

There is no curse or darkness in Heaven

Revelation 22:1-5 And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb. 2 In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. 3 And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him. 4 They shall see His face, and His name shall be on their foreheads. 5 There shall be no night there: They need no lamp nor light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light. And they shall reign forever and ever. (NKJ)

There is no fear, lack, or poverty in Heaven

John 14:1-3 Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. (NKJ)

 There is no corruption, contamination, nor fading away in Heaven

1 Peter 1:3-5 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 and into an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, reserved in heaven for you, 5 who through faith are shielded by God’s power for the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. As His ambassadors – His representatives here on earth; we are to seek for and expect His Kingdom to begin manifesting here on earth as it is in Heaven. 

Matthew 10:7 Jesus said, “And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ 8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.” (NKJ)

Other things that are not in Heaven:

There are so many other things that are not going to be in Heaven. Here are just a few more to think about. As you do, realize these do not have be a part of your life any longer. The Kingdom of Heaven is within your reach. Take it. It is your inheritance now.

In Heaven there is no failure, aging, guilt, condemnation, or limitations. No doubt, strife, stress. No lack of peace or unrest, no fighting, arguing, or unforgiveness. No sadness or depression, no discouragement, anxiety, hatred, lying, selfishness, or pride. No mistakes, no trying, confusion, boredom or coincidences. There is nothing random in Heaven. Everything has a purpose. Your life here on earth has purpose too. Let’s not miss our purpose. May His will be done in us and through us on this earth today as it is in Heaven.
