Who Gets the Last Word?

Have you ever met someone who always has to have the last Word? The devil is that way… if you let him! Let God’s Word be the last word in every situation you face.

Revelation 1:8 Jesus told John, “I am the Alpha and the Omegathe Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

When Jesus made this statement, He was not giving us a general piece of information about Himself. He was giving us a powerful truth we can apply today in three ways.

Begin with the Word

John 1:1-3;14 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. 14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

That means, if you are going to start your day with Jesus, you are going to start with the Word. Do not do anything until you find out what the Word has to say about it.

Continue with the Word

Colossians 1:21-23b And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled 22 in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight— 23 if indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel which you heard

Continuing in faith means continuing to heard His Word.

Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

The only way the devil can defeat you is to pressure you into casting away the Word. Every challenge he brings you is intended to make you doubt the Word of God. Settle everything in prayer with God. “It is written.”

End with the Word

Revelation 22:12-13 Jesus said, “And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.”

Let His Word be the last word on every situation, every problem, every trial, and testing that comes your way. The word of the news media is not the last word. The word of the global economics is not the last word. The word of your doctor is not the last word. The way you feel is not the last word. Let Jesus have the last Word.

You are now what the Word says you are.

1 Corinthians 1:30 But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption

Romans 8:37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

When faced with a difficulty, go to the Word for your answer. You can have what the Word says you can have.

Colossians 1:13-14 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love14 in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.

John 14:13-14 And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son14 If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.

2 Corinthians 9:8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.

Philippians 4:19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

1 Peter 2:24 who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.

3 John 1:2 Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.

2 Corinthians 2:14 Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.

You can do what the Word says you can do.

Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

John 14:12 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.

Luke 10:19 Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

You have Jesus’ Word on that. Hold on to His Word until you see it come to fruition in your life. Ultimately, YOU have the last word. Let it be His Word.
