Please Remain Seated

I’m sure we all have heard that phrase at some point in our lives. It’s usually spoken as a safety warning to passengers on a trip – to those who are in a hurry. Before you can remain seated, you first need to be seated. Sitting is a place of rest. A place where your efforts have ceased.

Mark 16:19 So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God. (NKJ)

What is the significance of sitting down? It symbolizes worktime is over – completed.

Hebrews 10:11-12 And every priest stands ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. 12 But this Man (Jesus), after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, 13 from that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool. (NKJ)

Who is He waiting on? You and I to enforce (because the devil is a rebel) what He has done by recognizing what we already have instead of trying to get what He has already given.

Hebrews 4:10 For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His. (NKJ)

God didn’t rest on the seventh day because He was tired. He rested because He was finished. Likewise, Jesus sat down at the right hand of God because He was finished.
Jesus is not in the business of saving people anymore. He already did that once and for all. He doesn’t need to die again every time a person is birthed into this world.

Romans 6:9-10 … knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him. 10 For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. (NKJ)

So, where is Jesus right now?

Hebrews 8:1 Now this is the main point of the things we are saying: We have such a High Priest, who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens, (NKJ)

1 Peter 3:21b-22 Jesus Christ, 22 who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, angels and authorities and powers having been made subject to Him. (NKJ)

Hebrews 1:3 (Jesus) who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the Word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, (NKJ)

What is Jesus doing while He is at the right hand of God?

Romans 8:31-34 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? 33 Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is he who condemns?  It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. (NKJ) (Intercession means “to strike, hit the bullseye;” “spot on”. Conversely, the antonym of is “to miss the mark, sin.”)

You too are to be seated with Christ at His ‘All-you-can-eat’ buffet. (Psalms 23:5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies)

Revelations 3:20-21 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. 21 To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne. (NKJ)

Psalms 68:19 Blessed be the Lord, Who daily loads us with benefits, the God of our salvation! Selah (NKJ)

Our faith does not get God to move. He’s not stuck. Our faith only appropriates what Jesus already did.

Ephesians 2:4-9 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. (NKJ)

Ephesians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, (NKJ)

Jesus is not in the healing business anymore (nor any less). Anytime a new disease pops up, Jesus doesn’t need to shed more blood. This too was taken care of once and for all.

1 Peter 2:24 Who His own self bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes you were healed. (NKJ)

2 Peter 1:3-4 … as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, 4 by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. (NKJ)

Stop trying to get God to do what He has already done. Remain seated in the fact that it is finished; everything you need.
