Hearing and Receiving from God

Radios transmit sound, even though you can't see it. The Word of God changes your life when you read it, hear it, and receive it. the change cannot be seen, but it is there on the inside.

God is always speaking. The question is, are we on the same wavelength with God? Is your receiver on?

Philippians 2:5 “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,” (NKJ)

You cannot hear from God if you don’t hear His Word.

James 1:21-27 “So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives, and humbly accept the Word God has planted in your hearts, for it has the power to save your souls. 22 But don’t just listen to God’s Word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. 23 For if you listen to the Word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. 24 You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. 25 But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it. 26 If you claim to be religious but don’t control your tongue, you are fooling yourself, and your religion is worthless. 27 Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.” (NLT)

You cannot have enough faith to receive the things you ask for without hearing His Word.

Romans 10:17 “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (NKJ)

John 15:7If you abide in Me, and My Words abide in you, you shall ask what you will, and it shall be done unto you.” (NKJ)

Your mind will not understand what is written in God’s Word with just leisure reading. It cannot be just an occasional dip into His Word. Our minds need a good scrubbing.

Ephesians 5:26-27 “That He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the Word, 27 That He might present it to Himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.” (NKJ)

Romans 12:2 “And be not conformed to this world: but be you transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” (NKJ)

1 John 5:14-15 “And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us: 15 And if we know that He hears us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we desired of Him.” (NKJ)

Your mind needs to be renewed because it does not become “born again, only your spirit does.

John 3:6, 9-12 “That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.” (NKJ)

Romans 12; 2Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” (NLT)

If you don’t know what God’s will is, it’s because you don’t know enough of His Word. God’s Word is His will.

You can believe and receive or doubt and do without.

Matthew 21:21-22 “Assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ it will be done. 22 And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.” (NKJ)

3 John 2  “Beloved, I wish above all things that you may prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers.” (NKJ)

It is God’s will for you to prosper. It is God’s will for you to be in health. You can only prosper or be in health to the degree that your mind, will, and emotions prosper.

Prayer is not a monologue; it is a dialogue. God does speak. The question is, are we listening? It requires us to calm our mind enough to hear.

Psalm 62:5 “Let all that I am wait quietly before God,

for my hope is in Him.” (NLT)

Psalm 131:1-3 “Lord, my heart is not proud;

my eyes are not haughty. I don’t concern myself with matters too great or too awesome for me to grasp. 2 Instead, I have calmed and quieted myself, like a weaned child who no longer cries for its mother’s milk. Yes, like a weaned child is my soul within me. 3 O Israel, put your hope in the Lord—now and always.” (NLT)

The devil loves to distract us. His greatest tools are fear, anxiety, and worry through lies and deceptions.

Mark 4:19And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the Word, and it becomes unfruitful.” (NKJ)

To “tune-in” with God, requires “tuning-out” other things. Don’t allow distractions to steal your victory.
