Don’t Tell It Like It Is

Mankind is the only creation on earth that uses words. Yes, animals communicate with each other but only the human race uses words. Why is that? Because we are created in God’s image.

Genesis 1:26-28 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” (NKJ)

We were created to be fruitful (productive, abundant), multiply (increase, grow) , subdue (conquer, subjugate), and have dominion (take authority) over everything. Yet, most of us allow things to subdue, multiply, and have dominion over us. It’s true that Adam lost or gave-up that mandate over to the devil, but Jesus, the second Adam, gained it all back for us.

1 Corinthians 15:22-23 So you see, just as death came into the world through a man, now the resurrection from the dead has begun through another man. 22 Just as everyone dies because we all belong to Adam, everyone who belongs to Christ will be given new life. (NLT)

New life is living in triumph over the consequences of sin.

Romans 5:17 For the sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and His gift of righteousness, for all who receive it will live in triumph over sin and death through this one man, Jesus Christ. (NLT)
We have been given power over sin but how do we activate this power? Through our words. Just as God’s words released power when He said, ‘Let there be…’ and is was, so too our words release power. Either for good or bad.

Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit. (NKJ)

When God spoke at creation, He spoke words of faith. He believed what He said would happen.
Romans 4:16-17 Therefore, the promise comes by faith, so that it may rest on grace and may be guaranteed to all Abraham’s offspring—not only to those who are of the law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham. He is the father of us all. 17 As it is written: “I have made you a father of many nations.” He is our father in the presence of God, in whom he believed, the God who gives life to the dead and calls into being what does not yet exist. (Berean)

The key here is not just talking. Many times we have the propensity to talk about our problems or circumstances. We ‘Tell it like it is,’ rather than speaking what we need. The thought of calling something into being that does not yet exist sounds crazy to us. ‘ You mean I am suppose to say I’m healed when I feel sick? That sounds like lying.’
No, there is a big difference between lying and speaking words of faith. A lie is meant to deceive someone. It’s design is to make someone believe something that isn’t true.
Speaking by faith is to agree with what God says in His Word instead of agreeing with your circumstances.

2 Corinthians 4:13 And in keeping with what is written, “I believed, therefore I have spoken,” we who have the same spirit of faith also believe and therefore speak, (NKJ)
You can quote Scriptures and make decrees and declarations until the cows come home and still not see any results. That’s because you are calling the things that be not as you wish they were. Just wishing and hoping won’t get the job done. You have to believe.
We can believe for things presently available; we can hope for things available in the future. Hoping for something to happen does not involve faith. It is what people say when they wish for something. It is wishy-washy and not established on the Word of God or on any promise from Him. It is a vague, aimless desire for something. There is no spiritual substance to it. Faith, on the other hand, has substance. Faith involves believing that something promised in the Word of God has actually already been provided to us. I’m not trying to get healing. It’s already mine. Jesus already paid for it with His stripes.

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (NKJ)

The Passion Translation Now faith brings our hopes into reality and becomes the foundation needed to acquire the things we long for. It is all the evidence required to prove what is still unseen.

Faith is the arrow and hope is the target.” Biblical hope is the promise, and faith is believing that we have that promise. Stop ‘Telling it like it is,’ the way things appear and start telling it according to His promises.
