Confident Prayer

Ever prayed and felt God was not listening? God listens to prayers prayed according to His Will. Find out how to pray confident prayers.

Have you ever been in prayer and suddenly felt like God wasn’t listening? We all have but few of us know what to do about it. We limp along praying the same old prayer half-hoping He’s hearing us and half-suspecting He’s not.

Today, we will see how to solve that problem once and for all. I’m not telling you God will listen to any old self-centered prayer you pray because He won’t. He has only promised to listen to prayers prayed according to His will.

1 John 5: 14-15 Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us15 And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him. (NKJ)    (petitions = request)

How do you put together a solid petition, one that’s in line with the will of God?

First, you dig into the Word of God and find out what His will is concerning your situation. His Word is His will. Make His Word the foundation of your petition.

1 Peter 2:15 For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men. (NKJ)

Romans 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. (NKJ)

Romans 10:17 Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. (NKJ)

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (NKJ)

New International Version Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.

Hebrews 10:35-36 Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward36 For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise: (NKJ)

Ephesians 3:10-12 … to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places, 11 according to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord, 12 in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through faith in Him. (NKJ)

Next, ask the Holy Spirit to help you.

Romans 8:26-27 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God. (NKJ)

Then, write down every Scripture that pertains to your situation.

Psalm 107:19-20 Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and He saved them out of their distresses. 20 He sent His Word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions. (NKJ)

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. (NKJ)

2 Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. (NKJ)

3 John 2 Beloved, I wish above all things that you may prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers. (KJV)

1 Peter 5:7 Cast all your cares [all your anxieties, all your worries, and all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares about you [with deepest affection, and watches over you very carefully]. (AMP)

Lastly, talk it over with Jesus. He will be listening.

2 Chronicles 7:14 If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. (NKJ)

Psalm 34:17 The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. (NKJ)

Psalm 91:15 He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. (NKJ)

Jeremiah 29:11-12 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. 12 Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. (NKJ)

Have confidence that your prayers are being heard and answered by making your words His Word. His Word cannot fail. Therefore, praying His Word means your prayers cannot fail either.
