The Power of Words
What we say matters because we speak the things we truly believe.
Matthew 12:33-37 Either make the tree good, and its fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and its fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by its fruit.
34 O generation of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.
35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart brings forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things.
36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
37 For by your words you shall be justified, and by your words you shall be condemned. (NKJ)
Do you speak what you see – the things that are happening to you or do you speak what you desire?
Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. (NKJ)
John 10:10 The thief comes not, but to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, AND that they might have it more abundantly. (NKJ)
Proverbs 21:23 He who guards his mouth and tongue keeps his soul from distress. (NKJ)

32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. (NKJ)
Only the truth of God’s Word you know makes you free.
Ephesians 1:16-23 I (Paul) cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;
17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him:
18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, and what is the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,
19 And what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power,
20 Which God performed in Christ, when He raised Jesus from the dead, and set Him at His own right hand in the heavenly places,
21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in that which is to come:
22 And has put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be the Head over all things to the church,
23 Which is His body, the fullness of Him that fills all in all. (NKJ)
Ephesians 3:20 Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, (NKJ)
Hebrews 3:1 Therefore, holy brothers, partakers of the heavenly calling, carefully consider Jesus, the Apostle and High Priest of our confession. (Berean)
Apostle = someone sent (commissioned), focusing back on the authority of the sender.
High Priest = a leader among priests. The One who entered the Holiest of Holies offering atonement for the people. Presided over judicial deliberations. One who was authorized to administer, to execute, to implement, and to carry into effect.
Confession = speak to a conclusion, lay to rest – properly, a conclusion embraced by common confession (profession, affirmation); acknowledgment, an agreement.
What are we to confess?

Mark 4:23-25 If any man has ears to hear, let him hear. 24 And He said unto them, Take heed what you hear: with what measure you measure, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given. 25 For he that has, to him shall be given: and he that has not, from him shall be taken even that which he has. (NKJ)
Romans 10:17 Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. (NKJ)
Doubt, unbelief, and skepticism also come by hearing which turns into believing the wrong things.
