Where is the Battlefield?

Where is the battle being fought? Most of us think it is a particular place or even a person. But if we don’t know where the battle is being fought, we will be defeated before we get started. The battlefield is our mind. The first thing to realize is a warfare constantly being waged against us. Too often, we get caught up worrying about temporal things.

2 Timothy 2:3-4 You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. 4 No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier. (NKJ)

Many lose the battle before it really begins because they are not prepared.

Ephesians 6:10-18 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood,/ but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in heavenly places./ 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints. Don’t fight the wrong battle. People are not the enemy.

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, (NKJ)

2 Corinthians 6:16 And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will dwell in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they shall be My people.” (NKJ)

Hebrews 10:16 “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the LORD: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them,” (NKJ)

The Battlefield is the Mind

Matthew 6:31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (KJV)

The attacks that ensued upon us come in the thoughts we think. If a thought enters your mind that does not line up with the Word of God, don’t take it. Don’t dwell on it.

Romans 12:2-3 And be not conformed to this world: but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. 3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. (NKJ)

Does every thought you think come from you? No, but you can control which thoughts you dwell on.

Philippians 4:6-8 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. (NKJ)

Whatever you deem important is what you will be consumed with.

Colossians 3:2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. (NKJ)

Romans 8:5-8 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. 8 So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God. (NKJ)

A mindset is a deliberate choice of thought or attitude that reflects your values and priorities. It is what you choose to focus on and devote your attention to. It shows itself in our corresponding outward behaviors. What is your mind set on? What do you direct your mind to seek for? You can and must control your thoughts. Think on the Word and right thoughts will overpower wrong thoughts.
