The Battle of the Mind: Shut the Enemy Out

We have been speaking about our mind and how the devil manipulates our thoughts.  Today, we are going to focus on our position of authority in our mind so we shut the enemy out.

Scriptures:   

Romans 12:2:   And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.   ^KJ

NLT:  Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. 

Galatians 1:3-5:    3 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ,  4 who gave Himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, 5 to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.    ^Berean

Ephesians 2: 1,2, 4,5a,6,7,  1 And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, 2 in which you used to walk when you conformed to the ways of this world and of the ruler of the power of the air, the spirit who is now at work in the sons of disobedience.  4 But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ, even when we were dead in our trespasses. 6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, 7 in order that in the coming ages He might display the surpassing riches of His grace, demonstrated by His kindness to us in Christ Jesus.  ^Berean

Colossians 3: 1-3:   1 Therefore, since you have been raised with Christ, strive for the things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. 3 For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.   ^{Berean Study}

Romans 8: 1, 2:   1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. 2 For in Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life has set you free from the law of sin and death.  ^{Berean Study}

Romans 8: 5-8:   5 Those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh; but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. 6 The mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace, 7 because the mind of the flesh is hostile to God: It does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. 8 Those controlled by the flesh cannot please God.  ^Berean

Romans 7: 5, 6:   5 For when we lived according to the flesh, the sinful passions aroused by the law were at work in our bodies, bearing fruit for death. 6 But now, having died to what bound us, we have been released from the law, so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code.    ^Berean

Romans 8: 12, 14:   12 Therefore, brothers, we have an obligation, but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it. 14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.  ^Berean

Romans 6: 5-8; 11:   5 Since we have been united with him in his death, we will also be raised to life as he was. 6 We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. 7 For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin. 8 And since we died with Christ, we know we will also live with him. 11 So you also should consider yourselves to be dead to the power of sin and alive to God through Christ Jesus.

 

Ephesians 6: 11, 16:   11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can make your stand against the devil’s schemes. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.  ^Berean

KJ:   11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.  16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.  ^{wiles-methodeia-accompany on a journey by lying in wait to trick; trickery, plot, scheme}

NIV:   11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.  16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 

John 14: 30:   “I will not speak much more with you, for the ruler of the world is coming, and he has nothing in Me;  ^NAS

1 John 3:8:   He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning.  For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. ^NKJ

Luke 10: 17-19:  17 The seventy-two returned with joy and said, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in Your name.”  18 So He told them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 19 See, I have given you authority to tread on snakes and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy. Nothing will harm you.  ^Berean
