Protecting The Gates – The Eye Gate – Part 2

Gates are the 1st line of defense. They control entrance and exit. Gates can allow a “window” of opportunity or an “open door” for the enemy.

Nehemiah 2:17 Then said Nehemiah unto them, You see the distress that we are in, how Jerusalem lies in ruins, and the gates thereof are burned with fire: come, let us build the wall of Jerusalem, that we are no more a reproach. (NKJ)

How does sickness, evil thoughts or temptations, or the wrong spirit enter into a person? It must come through one of the gates. These gates are known as the eye-gate, ear-gate, mouth-gate, touch-gate, nose-gate. These 5 senses are the guardians of the body and sometimes referred to doors or windows. (The enemy found an open door.) (The eyes are the windows of the soul.)

Hebrews 4:12 For the Word of God is living and active and full of power [making it operative, energizing, and effective]. It is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating as far as the division of the soul and spirit [the completeness of a person], and of both joints and marrow [the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and judging the very thoughts and intentions of the heart. (AMP)

The Word of God is our ONLY source designed to strengthen our soul for defense. Wrong believing = wrong actions. Thoughts produces actions.

Matthew 6:22-23 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore your eye be single, your whole body shall be full of light. 23 But if your eye be evil, your whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you be darkness, how great is that darkness! (NKJ) (undivided focus)

Jesus is not talking about poor eyesight or needing glasses. He’s talking about our choices.

Matthew 6:22-24 “The eye is the lamp of the body; so if your eye is clear [spiritually perceptive], your whole body will be full of light [benefiting from God’s precepts]. 23 But if your eye is bad [spiritually blind], your whole body will be full of darkness [devoid of God’s precepts]. So if the [very] light inside you [your inner self, your heart, your conscience] is darkness, how great and terrible is that darkness! 24 “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon [money, possessions, fame, status, or whatever is valued more than the Lord]. (AMP)

The 1st warrior the enemy meets coming through the eye gate is “will.” The 2nd warrior is “intellect” and the 3rd is “emotion.” These 3 are the guardians of the soul. But what happens when these warriors can’t see clearly?

Ephesians 4:18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:(NKJ)

Somewhere somehow a gate was left open to the wrong thing. What happens when these “warriors” turn a blind’s eye? They don’t just allow bad things in, but they keeping good things out

John 12:37-40 But although He had done so many signs before them, yet they did not believe in Him, 38 that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spoke, Lord, who shall believe our report? and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? 39 Therefore they could not believe, because Isaiah said again, 40 He has blinded their eyes and hardened their heart, that they should not see with their eyes nor understand with their heart and be converted, and I should heal them. (NKJ)

2 Corinthians 4:4 The god of this world has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. As a result, they don’t see the light of the Good News about Christ’s glory. It is Christ who is God’s image. (GWT)

Proverb 29:18 Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keeps the law, happy is he. (NKJ)

2 Peter 1:3-9 According as His divine power has given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who has called us to glory and virtue: 4 By which are given unto us exceedingly great and precious promises: that by these you might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. 5 And for this reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; 6 And to knowledge self-control; and to self-control patience; and to patience godliness; 7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness love. 8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that you shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 But he that lacks these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and has forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. (NKJ)

Hosea 4:6:  My people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge; because you have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you that you shall be no prieset to me; because you have forgotten the law of your God, I will also forget your children. (NKJ)

Ephesians 1:17-19 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him: 18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, 19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe according to the working of his mighty power, (NKJ)   (bestow, commit, deliver)

Matthew 7:3-5 And why behold you the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but consider not the beam that is in your own eye? 4 Or how will you say to your brother, Let me pull the speck out of your eye; and, behold, a beam is in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of your own eye; and then shall you see clearly to cast out the speck out of your brother’s eye. (NKJ)
