Protecting the Gates – The Ear Gates – Part 3

Gates are the 1st line of defense. They control entrance and exit. Gates can allow a “window” of opportunity or an “open door” for the enemy.

Nehemiah 2:17 Then said Nehemiah unto them, You see the distress that we are in, how Jerusalem lies in ruins, and the gates thereof are burned with fire: come, let us build the wall of Jerusalem, that we are no more a reproach. (NKJ)

How does sickness, evil thoughts or temptations, or the wrong spirit enter into a person? It must come through one of the gates. These gates are known as the eye-gate, ear-gate, mouth-gate, touch-gate, nose-gate. These 5 senses are the guardians of the body and sometimes referred to as doors or windows.

Hebrews 4:12 For the Word of God is living and active and full of power [making it operative, energizing, and effective]. It is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating as far as the division of the soul and spirit [the completeness of a person], and of both joints and marrow [the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and judging the very thoughts and intentions of the heart. (AMP)

The Word of God is our ONLY source designed to strengthen our soul for defense. Wrong believing = wrong actions. Listening to the wrong voice will produce unbelief.

Matthew 13:13-17 This is why I speak to them in parables: ‘Though seeing, they do not see; though hearing, they do not hear or understand.’ 14 In them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled: ‘You will be ever hearing but never understanding; you will be ever seeing but never perceiving. 15 For this people’s heart has grown callous; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts, and turn, and I would heal them. 16 But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear. 17 For truly I tell you, many prophets and righteous men longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it. (Berean)

The 1st warrior the enemy meets coming through the ear gate is “will.” The 2nd warrior is “intellect” and the 3rd is “emotion.” These 3 are the guardians of the soul. But what happens when these warriors can’t hear good or are deaf?

Somewhere somehow a gate is left open to the wrong thing. What happens when these “warriors” turn a deaf ear? They don’t just allow bad things in.  They keep good things out.

2 Timothy 4:2-4 Preach the word; be diligent in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they draw to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto myths. (NKJ) A false account that replaces what is true.

Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. (NKJ)

As faith comes by hearing the Word, likewise doubt, fear, and unbelief come by hearing – hearing the wrong things!

Mark 8:22-26 And he came to Bethsaida; and they brought a blind man unto him, and besought him to touch him. 23 And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw anything. 24 And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking. 25 After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly. 26 And he sent him away to his house, saying, Neither go into the town, nor tell it to any in the town. (NKJ)

Luke 10:13-14 Woe unto you, Chorazin! woe unto you, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon, which have been done in you, they would have a great while ago repented, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. 14 But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment, than for you. (NKJ)

If you have not received from God what you’ve been asking, it’s not God who has the problem. Unbelief keeps you from receiving what God has already given you.

Isaiah 54:17 No weapon that is formed against you shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against you in judgment YOU shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, says the LORD. (NKJ) To verbally declare wrong.

Every negative word (anything and everything that contradicts God’s Word) that opposes what you are believing for, YOU must denounce and refute as a lie.

Don’t allow the devil to use people in talking you out of what God has promised you in His Word. Don’t listen to unbelief. Don’t let it pass through your ears unchallenged.

  1. What we hear everyday through people, the news, even our doctors will affect our Christian walk. Often in a negative way because what they say is contrary to the Word of God. Who are you going to believe?

  4. Along with every little thing which seems to be developing within this specific area, a significant percentage of viewpoints are generally rather refreshing. Nevertheless, I am sorry, because I do not give credence to your entire suggestion, all be it stimulating none the less. It seems to everybody that your remarks are actually not entirely justified and in actuality you are generally your self not entirely certain of your argument. In any event I did appreciate examining it.
