Divine Nature – Part 1

Believers need to become aware God has called us to walk in His divine nature.   In order to partake of the divine nature, we have to learn how to yield to the Holy Spirit.  When we yield to the Spirit we can perceive what we are supposed to do each day.  In order to yield to the Spirit, we need to do two things:  get our hearts right, and teach our minds to think like God.  When we get our hearts right, and think like God, then God’s divine nature gently leads us by the Holy Spirit.  The Spirit guides us in a gentle pulling movement, where the flesh causes a forced pushing of our own will.  The Spirit is peaceably gentle.

2 Peter 1: 2-4   2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.  3  His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through the knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. 4 Through these He has given us His precious and magnificent promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, now that you have escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.  ^{Berean Study}

2 Peter 1: 5-8:   5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith virtue; and to virtue, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. 8 For if you possess these qualities and continue to grow in them, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.   ^{Berean Study}
